APPEAL

Sri Sri Shyama Charan Lahiri Mahashaya (1828-1895) was the chief revivalist of the lost science of Kriya Yoga for this age, after receiving initiation from his guru Mahavatar Babaji, as described in the classical spiritual best -seller, Autobiography of Yogi, written by Paramhamsa Yogananda. From Lahiri Mahashaya’s Kriya yoga initiations to his disciples, the spiritual science of Kriya yoga has spread worldwide via the medium of various organizations and individuals. Today hundreds of thousands of kriya yogis throughout the world are practicing the path of kriya, tracing their spiritual lineage to Lahiri Mahashaya.

In order to keep the purity of the teachings of Lahiri Mahashaya, the preservation of the Master’s original manuscripts on the science of Kriya yoga is necessary. However, handwritten manuscripts, nearly 10,000 (Ten thousand) pages of Sri Sri Shyama Charan Lahiri Mahashaya, mostly written between 1865 to1895, are currently facing deterioration by being kept in inadequate conditions due to lack of proper storing facilities.

Lahiri BABAContent of the documents include description of the Kriya techniques, inner spiritual experiences during various stages of Lahiri Mahashaya’s sadhana, exposition on the science of Ayurveda, and various other writings. Furthermore, these documents were currently kept private, unavailable to the wide following of Lahiri Mahashaya. For this purpose, the Shyama Charan Lahiri Foundation (Trust) has been established to:

  1. Preservation and Restoration to protect the original handwritten manuscripts of Sri Sri Shyama Charan Lahiri Mahashaya.
  2. Translate and Interpret the writings of Sri Sri Shyama Charan Lahiri Mahashaya in various languages.
